Abstract: | The release rate of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) from tablet dosage forms is significantly influenced by the composition of the formulation, in particular filler composition. In this work, we analyzed the impact of the ratio of excipients on the release rate of vinpocetine from a tablet containing Ginkgo biloba L. extract as the second API. Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), hydroxypropylcellulose (L-HPC) mixed with MCC (up to 16% of HPC), and partially pregelatinized starch were used in different ratios as excipients. Moreover, tween-80 was used to study the effect of introduction of emulsifier on the APIs’ release rates. According to our findings, optimal APIs’ release rates are achieved when using the combination of MCC with HPC at a ratio of 2:3. © 2023, Dr. Yashwant Research Labs Pvt. Ltd.. All rights reserved. |
