The Expectations and the Reality of the Language Level of Bachelor's Degree Students in Linguistics

Abstract

В данной статье исследуются ожидания и убеждения о процессе изучения иностранного языка у студентов-бакалавров первого и четвертого курсов направления «Лингвистика». Цель исследования – определить убеждения студентов в процессе преподавания/изучения языка в университете. В ходе исследования было опрошено 200 студентов первого и четвертого курсов бакалавриата по следующим темам: уровень владения английским языком, связь между профессиональной карьерой и иностранным языком, самый сложный аспект изучения языка и другие. В заключении статьи приводятся рекомендации для преподавателей и студентов, которые помогут устранить трудности в изучении языка.

This article investigates the expectations and real beliefs of first- and fourth-year undergraduate students in linguistics. The study intends to determine the students’ beliefs in the language teaching/learning process at university. In addition, surveys were conducted with 200 first- and fourth-year undergraduate students on the following topics: level of English proficiency, the relationship between professional careers and foreign language, the most difficult aspect of language learning, and others. This paper concludes with recommendations for teachers and students to help eliminate language learning difficulties.
