Abstract:	The article gives a historical analysis of the development of methods of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in China from the 19th century to the present. The definition of the term "methodology" in the broad and narrow sense, as interpreted by Chinese scientists, has been given. And the features of teaching Chinese as a foreign language at different times have been distinguished.
