Abstract: In the work, an approach that uses three-dimensional gradation trajectories in the CIE Lab metric space as analogs of traditional gradational curves is developed. It is shown that the mathematical apparatus of differential geometry of spatial curves describing gradation trajectories can be supplemented by a simpler discrete approach. The possibilities of applying the discrete method for calculating gradation trajectories to the problems of linearization of digital printing systems are demonstrated. © 2019, Institution of Russian Academy of Sciences.
