Abstract: Software packages based on the finite-element method are widely used to perform theoretical studies of metal-shaping operations. One of the best-known packages is DEFORM-3D. The adequacy of models created in DEFORM-3D can be verified by experimental methods, one example being the hardness-measurement method developed by G. D.
