Abstract: | The article analyzes the main interpretations of the image of The Grand Inquisitor, also it examines the key accents in the reflections of Russian and foreign researchers, including the classical criticism of Rozanov and Berdyaev. One of the points of interest attraction to the image of The Grand Inquisitor is still the internal conflict of the hero, his crisis of faith, which implicitly extrapolated to the social sphere as an institutional crisis. The variety of interpretations demonstrates the relevance of The Grand Inquisitor image as the embodiment of the archetype of power. In the modern concept of P. Sloterdijk the Grand Inquisitor as a cynical consciousness actor and manipulator of values, opening up new optics for comprehension. © 2022 Matica Srpska. All rights reserved. |
