Abstract: | The proceedings paper introduces the correspondence of the two writers of the Russian diaspora, G. I. Gazdanov and G. A. Khomyakov (Andreiev), now stored in the RGALI funds. The correspondence includes three prevailing themes: Literary matters and issues (the writers’ involvement in the «Bridges» Almanac); personal issues (sharing experiences, discussing friends and colleagues); and the work of both writers for Radio Liberty. Despite the fact that Gazdanov and Khomiakov belonged to two different periods of Russian emigration, they nevertheless came up with a special language of mutual understanding, largely preconditioned by the generational unity of the correspondents, which makes the published letters a lively and most revealing evidence of the literary life of the Russian postwar émigré community. © 2019, Russian Academy of Sciences.
