Abstract: Forests with Quercus robur in the Urals are a unique botanical-geographical phenomenon and occupy the eastern border of the natural range of oak in Eurasia. The aim of this work was assessment the oak stands and the process of natural regeneration of Q. robur in the Yekaterinburg and the biological station UrFU. Despite the harsh conditions of region we noted the substantial resistance of the species due to the considerable ecological plasticity of this species, in particular frost resistance, wind resistance and drought resistance, especially for adults. The natural regeneration of oak in the territory of the Yekaterinburg is practically not observed, which in our opinion is associated as climatic restrictions as the effect of anthropogenic factor in the complex that worsens of the soils. In the biological station UrFU, the success of natural regeneration was higher, but the density of the seedlings was low, and there was also a significant elimination of individuals with age. The success of natural regeneration depends on a set of factors, the key ones being remoteness from the parent plant, the canopy opening and anthropogenic influences.
