Abstract: The gradual replacement of annual crops with perennial ones in flower beds is an important innovation of the urban floral decoration. Ornamental herbaceous perennials allows continuous cost-effective operation of these flower beds of perennials grown in one place 7–10 years without any loss of decorative properties. Sixperennial species of forest origin were planted under the canopy of a limes and some shrubs in degraded urban soiland were followed for 8 years.Perspective for use in landscaping the city of Moscow can be as native groundcover species of dry forests, and introduced species of mountain and dry forests, adapted to the complex of edaphic conditions of the city, lack of light and moisture, trophic competition with the roots of trees. Further study of the adaptive features of perennials in the city is of great interest for the practice of gardening.
