Abstract:	The article is devoted to the biography of P. A. Shujskij (1878–1955), the teacher of the Ural State University, the translator of Homer into Russian (the translation of “Odyssea” was issued in 1948, the manuscript of the translation of “Ilias” now is kept in the library of the Ural State University). The author analyzes advantages and lacks of Shujskij’s Homer.
