Abstract: | The article is devoted to the description of existent editions of Michael Glycas' Chronicle. The Greek text of the first Paris edition of Glycas' Chronicle was printed from one codex, containing incomplete text with lacunae and the additional material from 5 codices (Pinax, 5 additional fragments, texts for filling the lacunae, the list of Byzantine Emperors etc.) was placed in Supplement in the end of the volume. The text of Paris edition was reprinted in Bonn's Corpus (1836) and in Patrologia Greaca (T. 158. 1866). Our study of the editions showed that the Greek text, printed in them, does not give the apprehension of Glycas' Chronicle archetype. Therefore it is necessary to study the manuscript tradition of the Chronicle in order to explore the possibilities to find the closest to the archetype manuscript text that can be the basis of the future critical edition of the Greek text of Michael Glycas' Chronicle. |
