Abstract: A number of problem questions of the article concentrated on the more significant parts of the Cosularia Italica, Consularia Constantinopolitana, and the Chronicle of Prosper are devoted to consular lists. But it would be most helpful for the modern critic of late Roman chronicles to have careful new comparative analysis of the other consular fasti in Th. Mommsen's assemblage - for instance, the Fasti Vindobonenses, the Paschale Campanum, and Victor of Aquitane's Cursus paschalis. Mommsen put several consular fasti together in his rendition of the minor Latin chronicles. In this century specialists (R. W. Burgess, B. Croke, and S. Muhlberger) have tended to examine these spare lists only when they offer notices of events under the consular headings. The rosters themselves have provoked little or no attention. But Holder-Egger's reconstruction of imaginary places of Ravenna's annals is less elaborate then that of other critics. Author of the article is careful to emphasize that Consularia's record of events is not an independent work but not a continuation of a Fasti Ravenni. The article is a little too hard on O. Holder-Egger and goodwill towards G. Kaufmann, whose main concern seems to have been with the hypothetical annals of Ravenna.
