Abstract

This article is dedicated to reviewing the attitude towards the concept of music in the Middle Ages: dual nature of its appreciation as a liberal art (ars libertalis) and as a craft of performance; ancient origins of this duality and its effect on the field of theoretical researches of mediaeval thinkers.

Статья посвящена рассмотрению особенностей отношения к понятию «музыка» в Средние века - двойственности восприятия ее как свободного искусства (ars U"beraus) и как исполнительского ремесла, античных истоков этой двойственности и ее следствий в сфере теоретических изысканий мыслителей того времени.
