Consequences for the Financial Market After the Revocation of a Banking License: Banco Espirito Santo, Banco Popular, and Qiwi Bank Cases

Abstract

Against the backdrop of volatile and unstable financial systems, the study of the consequences of actions in the financial arena is becoming increasingly relevant, as tracking these consequences allows us to understand the mechanisms of market reactions and develop ways to mitigate negative effects. The purpose of the article is to examine the consequences caused by the revocation of a banking license. The article considers 3 cases of license revocation on the example of Banco Espirito Santo (BUS) in Portugal, Banco Popular in Spain, and QIWI Bank in Russia, examines the reasons for this measure, and offers recommendations for effective crisis management.
