Roadside facilities as a factor of sustainable regional development

Abstract

The article examines the impact of roadside infrastructure on sustainable development in Russian regions. International experiences in the provision of infrastructure for driver's rest at major roads have been reviewed. A comparative analysis of roadside facilities in various regions of Russia is carried out. The dependence of regional economies and tourism industry, as well as the well-being of the population on the level of development of the roadside infrastructure is revealed. The study demonstrates the need to improve roadside services and highlights the importance of employing regional stylistics in the development of roadside architectures. © 2023 Author(s).
