Abstract: | The thermodynamics of rare earth metallothermic reduction was analyzed when different reductants and initial compounds were applied. It was established that alkali metals and calcium are the most suitable reagents for rare earths fluoride reduction. Experimental results indicate on advantage of lithium use. Processes of metallothermic reduction of lanthanum, cerium and neodymium by lithium metal were studied in semi-industrial scale. |
