Abstract: In our time, all countries that are actively developing economics face many challenges and threats in the field of ecology. This leads to the need to look for new, more environmentally friendly ways to develop the world economy. The modern model of economic growth is called the "green" economy. And its concept is to find the latest direction of growth and development, as well as to ensure the integrity of the environment for the individual to live in. To sum up, the goal of this direction is to make possible economic growth without negative consequences for the environment. Within the framework of this work, an analysis of the actions necessary for the formation of this type of economy and the elimination of negative environmental consequences in the oil and gas complex of the Russian Federation was carried out. The technologies and policies of two leading companies in the oil and gas industry, Gazprom and Rosneft, were reviewed.
