dc.description.abstract | The author’s analysis of place-names of the Kolodozerje region shows that a considerable portion of them originates from Pre-Baltic-Finnic sources. Those place-names that can be interpreted as Baltic-Finnic substrate, fall into three groups: those tracing back to the common word-stock of all Baltic-Finnic languages, those having Karelian or Vepsian sources. It is probable that the Karelian toponymy got shape later than the Veps toponymy, and dates back to the time of Karelian migrations of the XVII-th c. | en |
