Об архитектурно-строительных особенностях храма в поселке Лоо (г. Сочи)

Abstract

In 1980–1990 the Archaeological Expedition of the Ural State University carried out medieval temple in the village of Loo (Lazarevsky District of the city of Sochi). The monument was in a ruined state. The total length with its pilasters and apses was 21 m, width –12,25 m, and the wall thickness – 1,1 m. The inner space of the temple was divided by three pairs of pillars of square cross-section. On the west and south, small vestibules are joining the main construction. During the excavation, the foundation of a tower-like structure was found 3 m to the north of the western wall of the church. Summarizing all the evidence obtained during the excavation, the author has arrived to the conclusion that the Christian temple was functioning within the time span of the X–XIV century repeatedly subjected to reconstruction during that period. Separate building periods have been distinguished: X–XII century and XIII–XIV century. The appearance of the basic building of the Loo temple probably is dated to the XI–XII century. The architectural features of the church indicate the Byzantine tradition although with some Abkhaz-Georgian features.
