Скириты и вопрос о лакедемонском гражданстве

Abstract

The survived ancient evidence do not allow to consider, that Skiritai possessed the allied status in relation to Sparta. On the other hand, inhabitants of Skiritis—the mountain area in the north of Laconica—could not be named perioikoi: they did not have their own πόλις, and they dwelt not ‘round about’ of Sparta, but in periphery of the big Lakedamonian territory. But Skiritai were just Lakedaimonians, that is they belonged to citizenship of the πόλις of Lakedaimon, making one of «concentric circles» in «the vertical monocentric model» of this citizenship.
