Пирр после Аускула: планы и перспективы

Abstract

In the article devoted to the Pyrrhus activity, the situation after the battle of Ausculum is observed. The pause which followed at that time, accordingly to the author‘s opinion is explained by the state of things in Greece, Macedonia and Sicily. The author proves that the Sicily, which took a special part in Pyrrhus‘ plans, was chosen by the king, due to its great possibilities and large re¬sources. The Pyrrhus‘ chois of the Sicily was also caused by panhellenic ideas, which guided him during the West campaign. Thus precise estimation of the political situation on the island, allowed Pyrrhus to score great success in the struggle with Carthageniens.
