Свои размышления о значении семейной истории в интересе к России предоставил известный историк, профессор Вестфальского университета имени Вильгельма Хартмут Рюсс. Его эссе наполнено удивительно живыми и многозначными деталями, удивляет парадоксами и восхищает верностью избранному делу, искренним интересом к культурному наследию России и болью за ее непростую судьбу.

For this issue, Hartmut Rüβ, a renowned historian and professor at the University of Münster has provided his reflections on the importance of family history for his interest in Russia. His essay is full of vivid and meaningful details and paradoxes, the author’s dedication to what he does is worthy of admiration. The text is filled with both sincere gratitude to Russia’s cultural heritage and worries about its troubled destiny. This all is of immense importance to us now that Russia is to choose its way again.
