Abstract

Environmental problems arising from the mining and enrichment of metal ores have led to an increase in demand for ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals. Resource processing is gaining momentum in the metallurgical industry. The article describes modern and promising technologies used in secondary metallurgy. Particular attention is paid to existing varieties of scrap and methods of its disposal. The problems that have developed in the industry to date are considered. The article analyzes the prospects for the development of the ferrous scrap industry in Russia in the medium term.
