Abstract

The research of the whole complex of written sources (Vita of Ioannis Gotthiae, Vita of Constantin Philosopher, Notitia de Boor) allows to schedule contours of four reference points, which can help to determine the site of legendary Phoul. The town should be sought in the environs of a river in the South-West Taurica, be situated near the sea, dispose of a port and be not very far from Cherson and from Doros (Mangup). These parameters completely correspond to the area of Incerman at the mouth of the Čorna (Black River) near the Sevastopol bay.
